Mary House

Tyrrell Dowinton Associates won a competition to design a new wing to an existing residential care home in Hastings. Martha Trust is a Charitable Trust providing residential care home facilities for people with profound disabilities. The completed project provides twelve specially designed bedrooms with en-suite facilities, open plan living areas opening out into an enclosed courtyard. The rooms and circulation spaces have been specially designed for people with all manner of disabilities with ARJO hoists, special needs sanitaryware and nurse call systems. On completion of the above we were able to design and construct a new wing adjacent to the care home accommodating a hydrotherapy pool with changing facilities and integrated sensory equipment. Mary House was officially opened by Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Wessex and was Highly Commended at the East-Sussex Heritage Awards.
